Experience
First Merchants Bank, VP and Director of commercial operations
June 2022 - Present
impact
In a year that saw the completion of a merger with Level One bank, which added $1.65B in loans, our distributed team of syndicated and partnered loan analysts cut the average number of exceptions by nearly 80%, and median time to clear exceptions by more than 15%. I also began the buildout of an attorney prepared loan desk to review potential servicing exceptions prior to loan close and increase boarding throughput by turning attorney prepared loan documents into actionable data for loan boarding. Satisfaction scores from the lines of business supported by the team also increased over the course of the year.

First Mutual Holding Company, vp and pmo director
October 2019 - May 2022
impact
Pandemic and business continuity plans are standard for most businesses, so it was no surprise when work was moved to home and other mitigation plans enacted in March of 2020. But, as the pandemic continued it became clear that consumer and employee behaviors had changed in response. By using change management principles to raise awareness of the need for change and the existing desire, we were able to build the tools and processes to enable our customers to engage in the way that is best for them and our employees to work safely with increased satisfaction, balance, and results that will sustain long into the future. The creation of an EPMO and Integration Management Office ensured a legacy of predictable change and a roadmap for continued growth by affiliation.

crosscountry mortgage, vp of project management
September 2017 - October 2019
impact
In less than two decades, CrossCountry Mortgage grew from founding to one of the top-three retail mortgage lenders in the nation. Highly entrepreneurial and built for speed, CCM needed an enterprise Project Management Office that organized their ambitions, enabled collaboration and visibility across a distributed network of branches and operating areas, and relentlessly eliminated low-value initiatives without sacrificing velocity. In building my first EPMO from scratch, I learned valuable lessons around structuring a PMO, and the related processes and tools, to meet a business where it is and to enable rather than try to manage change.

huntington national bank (fka firsterit bank, na), Vp Loan operations
December 2008 - September 2017
Impact
In 2012, FirstMerit Bank, NA announced that it had acquired Flint, Michigan based Citizens Republic bank. The merger would nearly double the assets of FirstMerit from $14B to $24B. But, the merger was dependent on the successful conversion of the Citizens Republic loan portfolio. As the integration lead for loan operations at FirstMerit, I led the effort to convert systems and develop post-integration operating models that saw the bank's loan portfolio grow by more than 55%, from $9B to $14B.
Atlantic Financial Services (nka tebo Financial Services), Operations manager
June 1998 - September 2008
Impact
For years, Atlantic Financial Services outsourced its recovery collections to a multi-state law firm. Faced with flagging performance and escalating costs, we were convinced that we could do better. As Recovery Manager, I brought the effort back in-house. After a complete re-engineering of the collection process, my recovery team tripled collections and cut legal expenses by 66% within the first two years. In fact, the process was so effective that it was spun off and offered as a service to other clients.
